What is art licensing?

In essence, art licensing allows you to acquire the rights to use an artist’s work on your products for a specified duration.

Depending on your requirements, art licensing can be an excellent way to access stunning artwork without the higher cost of purchasing full copyright ownership.

The terms of an art license, including the territory and the number of products you can apply the artwork to, are typically tailored to individual needs. Generally, the more rights you seek, the higher the licensing fee will be.

What types of art licenses are there?

  • You can license the artwork, though others may do so concurrently. This license is available only for existing artwork within my licensing portfolio. Minor adjustments to the artwork’s color palette are negotiable but may incur a design fee. As the artist, I retain full copyright to the artwork.

  • You can license the artwork exclusively, meaning I cannot license the same design to others for the duration of your license. Custom adjustments to the artwork are negotiable but may incur a design fee. As the artist, I retain full copyright to the artwork.

  • You can license the artwork exclusively for your specific industry, such as greeting cards. However, I can license the same design to others in different industries, like puzzles or stationery. Custom adjustments to the artwork are negotiable but may incur a design fee. As the artist, I retain full copyright to the artwork.

Please be aware that some artwork might already be licensed, so the license you need may not be available at this time.
